Credit Cards
What credit cards do you accept?
Is it secure?
Encompass is serious about protecting customer credit card information and has partnered with Stripe to handle all credit card information collection and processing.
Why is this important?
There has been an alarming rise in business servers being compromised by hackers with millions of credit card numbers stolen. Consumers have been left scrambling to determine if their information has been stolen and is at risk of unauthorized use.
How does it work?
With Stripe, credit card numbers entered for payment on encompass.com do not touch our servers. The information is sent from customer browsers directly to Stripe. Stripe securely stores the credit card information and sends a token back to the Encompass server. The token is a random string of alphanumeric characters unusable to anyone outside of Stripe and Encompass. When Encompass bills or refunds customer credit cards, we send a token back to Stripe. Stripe looks up the token, transmits credit card information to the processor and and transfers money between the card and Encompass.
What does this mean for me?
In the unlikely event an Encompass server is ever compromised, customer credit card information would be secure since the vital data never touches our servers. If the tokens were ever accessed and compromised, they would be completely useless.
Is my credit card safe with Stripe?
Stripe encrypts all card numbers on disk with AES-256, and decryption keys are stored on separate systems. None of Stripe’s internal servers and daemons are able to obtain plaintext card numbers; instead, they can just request that cards be sent to a service providers on a static whitelist. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs through a separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services (API, website, etc.).For more information, visit Stripe.
